A ceremony is planned for September 26, 2025, to rededicate Fort Gordon, Georgia. 

The base will retain the name Fort Gordon but will now honor Master Sergeant Gary I. Gordon, a Medal of Honor recipient. This follows a previous renaming of the base from Fort Gordon (honoring Confederate General John Brown Gordon) to Fort Eisenhower in October 2023. 

The upcoming ceremony recognizes Gary Gordon's heroism during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in defending wounded crew members at a helicopter crash site. The ceremony honoring Master Sergeant Gary Gordon will be streamed live on the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence's social media page.
