A Legacy Honored: Welcoming Brian Yarusevich to the Camo Jacket Society
The Ranger Legacy Foundation is deeply proud to welcome Brian Yarusevich as our newest Camo Jacket Society Member and as a Ranger Legacy Center plankholder in honor of his father, Alan J. Yarusevich.
We first met Brian more than a decade ago while helping him treat his dad to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Best Ranger Competition. From the very beginning, it was clear how much love, respect, and admiration Brian held for his father. That bond was unmistakable and rooted in gratitude for the life, values, and example Alan had provided.
Alan was a graduate of Ranger Class 3-62, and during their trip back to Fort Benning, something unforgettable happened. As they explored the landscape, Alan began recalling his Ranger School experience in remarkable detail. The phases, the hardships, and every lesson came back with clarity. Though decades had passed, the memories were vivid and alive. Ranger School had never left him.
Over the years, we stayed in touch with Brian and watched as his respect for his father’s service continued to shape his connection to the Ranger community. When the Ranger Legacy Foundation was officially established, Brian was one of the very first stakeholders to reach out and congratulate us. We were honored to share with him the vision for the Ranger Legacy Center, a permanent home where Ranger stories, values, and leadership live on.
This past November, Brian reached out again to let us know he was ready to commit to the Camo Jacket Society and become a Ranger Legacy Center plankholder in honor of his father. His intention was deeply personal. Brian wanted to present his father with the framed plankholder certificate, at Christmas, so Alan could see the lasting impact and legacy he created not only within the Ranger community, but within his own family. We were able to accomodate and Brian was able to secure number 101 signifying Alan’s service with the 101st Airborne Division.
Brian shared this dedication to his father:
“A life and legacy rich in unwavering leadership, uncompromising integrity, untiring work ethic, values and life lessons. In true Ranger fashion, you passed on everything you learned to me and countless others. Now our story will forever be entwined and anchored in a permanent home where the Ranger Legacy will inspire future generations. Thank you, Dad.”
This is what legacy looks like.
Brian let us know that he father was deeply touched by the gift and even scrambled to find his favorite 101st polo for a proud photo.
The Camo Jacket Society represents those who understand that Ranger history is not only something to be remembered, but something to be stewarded. Brian’s commitment reflects a deep belief in honoring the past while investing in the future. Through his membership, Alan J. Yarusevich’s story and the values he lived will continue to inspire generations yet to come.
We are grateful for Brian’s trust, his dedication, and his respect for his father’s legacy. It is families like the Yaruseviches who remind us why the Ranger Legacy Foundation exists and why the Ranger Legacy Center matters.
Welcome to the Camo Jacket Society, Brian. Your father’s legacy now has a permanent home.
Rangers Lead the Way.
